Jack's Lemonade Stand

Yesterday on the walk home from the park, Jack Andrew saw a lemonade stand.  We had to go home, get money, and head straight back to that stand.  From that instant, he became convinced he was going to have his own stand the very next day.  He talked about it several times last night and this morning.  I remember how much fun lemonade stands were when I was young, but he is only four.  Well, it was a gorgeous day and I decided I would enjoy sitting outside so we should give it a try.  It did help that his excitement was so very contagious!

We headed to Target to pick up some supplies.  While there, he told anyone that even looked his way.  Jack was so excited, he could not sleep at nap time.  So naptime turned into quiet time while he made his sign.  Then we headed out!

We were open for business for about ten minutes before his first sale.  He remained excited.  Then came the big moment!!  He politely asked a lady walking into our building if she would like lemonade.  When she said yes, his face light up like the sky on the Fourth of July!  He very efficiently scooped up some ice, poured her a cup, and politely handed it to her before screaming, "Mommy, she said I could have the whole dollar!"

The next two hours went the same!  His excitement never diminished!  He got just as excited about a quarter as he did a dollar.

One customer gave him a dollar and told him to make sure he got a toy with his money.  Jack replied, "This is my Grand Canyon fund!"  The kind women then said, "Well in that case, here is a five dollar bill too!"

He seemed so grown up out there.  His manners were incredible.  So, if you are thirsty this summer, drive by our place.  I am sure we will be out there again...and again!

Open For Business!
He did have a few cups himself!

Jack made a fabulous sign!  I just had to help with the 2 and the 5...you can see his attempt at a 2.

Yummy Yummy Christmas

For Jack Andrew it was all about when he could eat it the house.
He has given it many good attempts!

Making Christmas cookies with Jack this year was so enjoyable.  It was definitely worth the mess to hear, "Happy Christmas Mommy.  I am having so much fun!"

This picture perfectly captures the moment!

How Will We Get Around In Heaven?

Jack - "Mommy and Daddy Ry, when are we going to Heaven?"

Me - "God will decide when we go."

Jack - "He is still thinking about it?  He has not decided yet?"

Me - "He knows, but we will not know until he is ready to bring us up there. He has a plan for your life."

Jack - "Oh.  Are we taking our car with us?"

Me - "No.  God will have everything we need for us up in Heaven.  We will not bring anything."

Jack - "How are we going to get around up there?"

Me - "God has a plan.  He will take care of us."

Jack - "Oh yep - I think the angels will just carry us around where we need to go!"

Mommy, I have something to tell you!

As I buckle Jack into the car after school, he looks at me with a serious little face and says, "Mommy, I have something to tell you."  Uh-Oh, what might this be?  "Yes, Jack?"

"Daddy Ry made your bed this morning, BUT, he did it wrong.  He folded the green blanket in a square and then folded the brown blanket in a square and put it on top of the green one.  That is not right, is it Mommy?  The brown blanket does not belong on the bed and the green one is supposed to be folded in a rectangle on the end of the bed.  Right, Mommy?"

I guess I am passing on a little OCD to Jack.  He is observant...I have never discussed with him how I like my bed made!  Poor Ry...I am sure he was scolded!  When I saw the bed, there was no brown blanket and the green one was folded in a rectangle at the end of the bed!

It's 9 O'Clock Somewhere!

Last night was Jack's school carnival.  The last station we visited was face painting.  I told him he could choose whatever he wanted to have painted.  When the lady painting asked him what he wanted he said, "You can make me a clock.  I want numbers all around my face!"  Well, a clock he is!  He reminded her, "Don't forget the pointers."  He wanted to be 9:00!

As we were walking home, Jack stopped and stood very still in front of Ryan.  "Daddy Ry, if you want to know what time it is, you can just look at me!"

Last night, Jack also figured out text messaging.  He would take either Ry or I's phone to send a message to the other.  He would then run to the other room to see if we got his message.  He was so excited and proud!  I was also very proud - the messages he was sending were strings of letters that he knew!  14 capital letters - ROASDJKZXCBMHI!!!
