Yesterday on the walk home from the park, Jack Andrew saw a lemonade stand. We had to go home, get money, and head straight back to that stand. From that instant, he became convinced he was going to have his own stand the very next day. He talked about it several times last night and this morning. I remember how much fun lemonade stands were when I was young, but he is only four. Well, it was a gorgeous day and I decided I would enjoy sitting outside so we should give it a try. It did help that his excitement was so very contagious! We headed to Target to pick up some supplies. While there, he told anyone that even looked his way. Jack was so excited, he could not sleep at nap time. So naptime turned into quiet time while he made his sign. Then we headed out! We were open for business for about ten minutes before his first sale. He remained excited. Then came the big moment!! He politely asked a lady walking into our building if she would like lemonade. When she said yes, his face light up like the sky on the Fourth of July! He very efficiently scooped up some ice, poured her a cup, and politely handed it to her before screaming, "Mommy, she said I could have the whole dollar!" The next two hours went the same! His excitement never diminished! He got just as excited about a quarter as he did a dollar. One customer gave him a dollar and told him to make sure he got a toy with his money. Jack replied, "This is my Grand Canyon fund!" The kind women then said, "Well in that case, here is a five dollar bill too!" He seemed so grown up out there. His manners were incredible. So, if you are thirsty this summer, drive by our place. I am sure we will be out there again...and again! |
